Mangaluru: District BJP workers gathered in front of the DC’s office on Tuesday Mar 29 to protest against the scarcity of sand in Dakshina Kannada district.
Addressing the protesters Dakshina Kannada BJP South Block President Ravishankar Mijar said that the construction sector is feeling the pinch in the district due to shortage of sand and the Congress government at the state has failed to find a solution for the same.
“Due to the scarcity of sand nearly 50000 people who have migrated from North Karnataka for construction work are facing a lot of problems. Their daily bread is lost as the construction work in the district has come to halt. Most of the developmental work in the Mangaluru Municipal Corporation limits too are pending which was supposed to be completed by the end of March,” he said.

“Even after having four cabinet ministers from the district none of the minister could find a proper alternative for sand scarcity problem,” he alleged.
