Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner and Nisargadhama Chairman A B Ibrahim said that a grand fish mela will be held at the Dr Shivarama Karantha Pilikula Nisargadhama on May 17. He added, “the day long festival will begin at 9 am”.

The main attraction of the event will angling by enthusiasts at the lake which will be permitted at a fee of Rs: 100 per person.

The catch by the participants will be sold and half of the proceeds will be paid to the society and the remaining half would be given to the catcher. There would be three platforms with security measures for angling.

He said that there would an exhibition and sale of ornamental fish and also an exhibition by the Fisheries department to create awareness on fish farming. Value added products of fish and fish food will also be put out for sale.
