Mangaluru:In the wake of the controversy over the temporary stoppage of the Yakshsgana programs by the police at two locations yesterday after they received a complaint of noise pollution, the Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U T Khader told reporters that he had already instructed the CoCommissioner of Police to conduct a probe on the issue of disruption to the program and also assured of taking action after receiving the report.
When reporters sought the minister’s response on Tuesday, March 5, he said, those who hold responsible positions should understand the culture and traditions of a particular area. “It is very common in almost all temples that devotees engage in Bhajan and other programmes during Maha Shivarathri. But, why police disrupted the programmes at Kavoor and Pandeshwar? Suitable action will be taken against the concerned person, once I receive a report from the police chief”, he said.
Following by the incident, some right-wing activists also convened a press conference in the city on Tuesday and urged for suitable action against those who disrupted the Yakshgana and Bhajan Programs.
