Mangalore : A young woman hailing from Belthangady was stabbed by a youth on April 22, Monday, after she reportedly turned down his love and refused to marry him. The 26 year old woman whose name has been withheld has been admitted to hospital with injuries in her head and hand.
The accused has been identified as Umakanth, who works in a hotel here. He has fled the scene of the crime leaving the girl in a pool of blood. She was later admitted to hospital by an autorickshaw driver.
It is learnt, the young woman who had completed her nursing education was working in a hospital in Mangalore, while the youth came across the girl about six months ago. It is said on April 22, Monday, the youth approached the girl and asked her to agree to marry him. When she refused, she stabbed him and fled the scene.
Pandeshwar police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the youth.
