Mangaluru: The six-day long international conference of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will be held at Sanghanikethan from December 25 and 30, wherein discussions regarding sensitive issues including the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act, are likely to be held.

It is the first time in the history of Mangaluru that VHP’s international conference is being held in the city. Informing about the scheduled conference, VHP state working President Prof M B Puranik said that over 350 to 400 delegates from USA, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Italy, Thailand, South Africa, Bangladesh, and other countries will be attending the conference. VHP’s national and international leaders such as Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje, Bhaiyyaji Joshi, Alok Kumar, Milind Parande, and Champath Roy will participate among others.

“Though the conference will start on Wednesday, December 25, it is meant for local and state leaders. The official inauguration of the conference will be held on December 27, by Dharmastala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade. Nitte Educational Trust Chairman N Vinay Hegde will preside over the programme.  The major issues like construction of Ram Mandir, VHP’s role in the Rama Janmabhoomi Trust, conversion, protection of cows and future programmes of VHP will be discussed in the scheduled conference. After the discussions, some important resolutions will be passed during the valedictory programme,” Puranik said.

NIA should conduct probe on violent protest

Commenting on the recent violent protests and police firing in the city, VHP Divisional Secretary Sharan Pumpwell suspected the involvement of those who indulge in terrorist activities. “Protesters who indulged in stone-pelting covered their faces, which was usually seen in Kashmir. Due to this, we suspect that some people who support terrorism and are involved in terrorist activities must have been involved in the protest. Hence, an investigation should be done by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to unearth the truth,” he stressed.

VHP leaders Gopal Kuttar, Shivanand Mendon, and others were present.
