Mangaluru: BJP Lok Sabha election coordinating committee convener Gopalakrishna Herale has cautioned of taking strict action against those who misuse the party symbol and project themselves as the candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, by placing flex and banners in the city.
This warning was given on the backdrop of several flexes that have mushroomed in almost all junctions in the city by the supporters of Sathyajith Suratkal, who is an aspirant of a ticket to contest from Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency.
Addressing the reporters at district BJP office, on Friday Herale said that BJP district president has already announced that there would not be any changes in the candidate for Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency and sitting MP Nalin Kumar Kateel would contest this time too. “But, we have observed that some flexes have been placed in some areas, in the name of supporters of a person, projecting him as the possible BJP candidate. These flexes have been placed by violating the guidelines as the party symbol too is being used in it. Strict action will be taken against those who put up such flexes”, he said.
It can be noted that BJP Backward Classes Morcha state secretary Sathyajith Suratkal’s supporters have placed flexes in the city saying that people should support Sathyajith Suratkal in order to re-elect Narendra Modi as the prime minister of India again. They have placed such flexes under the title of ‘Sathyajith Suratkal Abhimani Balaga’. It can be also noted that Sathyajith was an aspirant for contesting in the last Assembly election from Mangaluru North constituency, but he was denied ticket by the party high command.
Bike rally on March 2
Herale informed that the BJP has taken up several programmes in order to win the confidence of voters. “The valedictory of such programmes will be held through a bike rally in all Assembly constituencies throughout the nation on March 2. Bike rally will be conducted in all eight Assembly constituencies in DK district and those who participate in the bike rally should not violate the traffic guidelines”, he added.
BJP leaders like Ravishankar Mijar, Kishore Rai, Sanjay Prabhu, Jithendra Kottary, Prabha Malini Sandesh Shetty among others were present.
