Mangaluru: Two weeks after multiple complaints were filed against miscreants for posting derogatory comments on Sri Durga Parameshwari of Kateel and other Hindu gods, the police investigating the case have hinted at approaching court.
The derogatory comments on Hindu gods were posted in October 2015, which were later widely circulated on social media. A case was registered at Mangaluru north police station and a special team was formed to nab the culprits.
M Chandra Sekhar, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner, who is probing the case, informed media persons on Saturday that they are not able to find vital information regarding the posts on Facebook.
“A person from Chikkamagaluru has been taken into custody who is said to be in contact with those allegedly involved in posting comments on social media. But the main hurdle is that the Facebook is not providing the IP addresses from which the posts were sent. These details are vital evidence against the culprits,” he added.
“The officer investigating the case has sent a final reminder to Facebook and if they do not respond, we will have to approach court to get information.”
However, the probing team is yet to trace the main culprit who is said to be from Dakshina Kannada. He had a fake account named ‘Jabbar BC Road’ through which he posted those comments.
