Mangaluru: A case was registered against a person at Bantwal town police station for allegedly uploading derogatory statements on Hindu Gods and Goddesses on social media.

According to police, a person named Jabbar of B C Road has reportedly uploaded the derogatory comments. A suo motu case under IPC section 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) has been filed against Jabbar.

It is learnt that the accused has commented in foul language on Kateel Shri Durgaparameshwari temple and it’s Goddess. In connection with the issue, Karavali Samskruthika Parishat of Ullal submitted a memorandum to Mangaluru Police Commissiner Chandra Sekhar on Tuesday, urging him to arrest the accused at the earliest.

However, the accused has not been arrested so far. There are several discussions in the social media about the necessity of stringent action against the accused, as not even a single wrong-doer has been punished for such crimes.
