Bantwal: With taps running dry for over a month in Panemangaluru-Bolangadi area, the angry villagers picketed the Town Municipal Council office on Tuesday.
The protesters even went to the extent of spreading out towel outside the council building and collecting money because the TMC had recently said that it does not enough money to provide water to Bolangadi area.

The residents of Bolangadi said that recently a borewell was dug and despite the bore having 3 inch of water, the water could not reach people because the TMC has not installed a pump.

When questioned, the TMC officials and elected representatives said that they do not have money to purchase a pump.

Raged residents on Tuesday not only told the TMC that they would give them the  money for purchasing pump, but also instantly resorted to collecting cash after setting a deadline of Friday for the TMC to supply water to Bolangadi.

TMC President Ramakrishna Alva, however did not come to the spot to meet the protesters, which further raged them. The protesters vehemently stay put at the protest site stating that the TMC President should come and meet them.

However, when TMC Vice-President Mohommed Nandarabettu arrived at the spot and promised to solve the problem by Thursday, they withdrew the protest, with a warning that they would intensify their protest on Saturday if the TMC fails to keep its words.
