Mangalore : Gowri Lankesh, Editor of Gowri Lankesh Patrike has said that the defeat of the BJP in the recently held assembly elections has buried communalism in Dakshina Kannada district.
She was presiding over a thanksgiving function organised by the Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike to thank the voters, for defeating the BJP. The function held at St Aloysius College Auditorium also saw an interactive session between the new ministers and non-BJP elected representatives and the public.
District Minister and Karnataka Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment Ramanatha Rai who also spoke on the occasion, said no scope would be given for fundamentalist and communal forces.
Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo, Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes, Urban Development Minister Vinaykumar Sorake and Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty were also present and interacted with the participants.
Several members of Komu Sauharda Vedike including Prof. K Phaniraj and Venkataswamy were also present.
