Deepak murder case: Surathkal police stop killers run, four arrested

Mangaluru: The Surathkal Police chased the car employed by the four suspected killers and succeeded in nabbing all them for their involvement in the killing of Deepak in broad daylight here on January 3. It is learnt that one of the killers was injured in police firing.

Police shot at the speeding car and managed to nab the suspected killers near Mijaru in Moodibidri in a dramatic chase. All the four are being taken to Mangaluru police commissioner’s office for further investigation.

It may be recalled that a 32-year old youth Deepak Rao, a right-wing activist was brutally hacked to death by four persons who arrived in a car here at Samshuddin Circle in Katipalla on January 3.

The miscreants had arrived in a Maruti swift Car and attacked the activist near Mudaikodi.

Deepak was working in a mobile shop owned by one Majeed.

The body of the deceased was later shifted to A J Hospital. Meanwhile, hundreds of right-wing activists had gathered in front of A J Hospital following the attack.

BJP Mangaluru MP Nalin Kumar spoke demanding an NIA probe into the incident earlier in the day.

Incidents of public outrage have been reported after the incident in Suratkal and surrounding areas.
