Kasargod: By lighting the life of septuagenarian woman, a Muslim woman has set an example to society that humanitarian attitude alone can cut across all caste and religion barriers.

When 70-year-old Seethamma is struggling to survive with age related problems, poor eye sight, and deteriorating health, a Muslim woman named Ayeeshamma, a resident of Kumble Kodyamme Pundikatte has turned into a beacon of hope in times of distress.

Ayeeshamma provides food and medicine to Seethamma, who totters under the vagaries of weather in a make shift tent situated in 10 cents land.

All her efforts to own that piece of land faded with local Gram Panchayat turning a deaf ear to her repeated pleas and left her alone to survive on old age pension. She gets little respite from the only source of income and draws consolation when her foster pays a visit.

For many years Seethamma frequented Ayeeshamma’s residence but the latter’s resolve to reach out to provide food and medical care to the woman in distress is highly commendable.

Spinster Seethamma served in a government upper primary school at Kumble Kodyamme for 20 years, providing mid-day meals to children.

When her health deteriorated, Seethamma turned a destitute relying on others on all occasions.

Is there a substitute for the motherly care that Ayeeshamma provides?
