Bantwal: A RSS worker suffered critical injuries after he was assaulted and stabbed by few persons here at BC Road on Tuesday, July 4 night.

The victim Sharath, a resident of Kandur in Sajipamunnur has been admitted to a hospital in a Mangaluru and his condition is said to be serious.

It is gathered that on Tuesday night Sharath was winding up his work at the laundry shop and was about to leave for home when the persons assaulted and stabbed him before fleeing from the scene.

This incident occurred despite the prohibitory orders being in existence in the region which has been gripped with communal tensions over the past few days.

Meanwhile, the police have begun investigations and deployed tight security. District superintendent of police (SP) Sudheer Kumar Reddy visited the spot.
