Deadlock over releasing pending bills to waste management company continues

Mangaluru: Antony Waste Handling Pvt Ltd threatened to end the contract with the MCC of waste handling for corporation failing to pay pending RS 3.51 crore bill amounts to the company.

The MCC Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati claimed Project Director spoke positively on resolving problems raised by the MCC. However Project Director Hariprasad Salian expressed company was not in a position to continue with the work due to unpaid bills. The company has been reeling under loss because of which company was unable to make payments for the employees involving in the project.

Salian divulged MCC assured the company of clearing the bill within two days. “We are waiting for the money. If company failed to give the pending cash, we have the option in the tender contract to leave the project.” No companies would continue work without receiving rightful money after delivery. The company has spent as many as 30 crore as capital investment apart from pooling 3 crore working capital. Due to delay in payments “we are running project under huge loss,” he rued.

The MCC has to pay RS 3.51 crore, RS 1.66 crore bill amount of February and RS 1.65 crore of March. Going by the words of the Project Director, the company appears reluctant to work unless MCC clears the bill.

Mayor Jacinta Alfred said she held brief talks with the MCC commissioner advising to pay the bill in two days. “We are not in a position to lose Antony Waste Handling Pvt Ltd as there is no other alternative well-equipped system in place for collection of garbage.” She promised payment would be done ASAP, while Hephsiba reiterated she had told the company to resolve the problem.
