Mangalore: After inspecting the development work at Sri Manjunatha Temple, Kadri, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim directed the concerned officials to resume immediately the stalled projects.

The DC, along with the officials of Mangalore City Corporation, tourism, health and muzrai department paid a visit to the temple on Wednesday, September 10.

AJ Shetty and Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the members of managing committee of Kadri Manjunatha Temple welcomed them and discussed about the developmental works.

He inspected the proposal to construct a multi-level car parking with the fund of Rs 5 crore for the temple devotees,  and discussed with them, the stalled projects such as construction of proper drainage and toilet facilities with the fund of Rs 1 crore, as also regarding the strengthening of the retaining wall.

Although, the fund for the construction of toilet and drainage in the premises of the temple, was sanctioned a few years back,  the work was stalled due to lack of a plan. The temple had to then construct a temporary toilet for the devotees.

In addition, the DC also asked the keep the premises of the temple clean and promised to take immediate measure to resume the stalled works.  

In the meeting, Kalkura asked the DC to consider the proposal to construct a ring road saying that all the roads leading to the temple face constant traffic issues as these are narrow. He said that construction of  a ring road and extension of road leading to the temple would not only help the devotees but also the locals.
