Bantwal: Deputy Commissioner A.B.Ibrahim has in a swift operation at B.C.Road on Wednesday July 9 directed the officials to seize over 15 sand transportation lorries, following information that sand was being unauthorisedly transported.




The DC who was heading towards Neriya in Belthangady, noticed the lined up sand lorries at B.C.Road where his vehicle was caught in a traffic snarl owing to the underground drainage works. He immediately contacted SP Dr Sharanappa and with the assistance of police intercepted the lorries and checked the documents.
The DC then directed Tahsildar Malleswamy to seize all lorries and decide on further course of action after inspecting the licence and other permits.
DC inspects two-way traffic at BC Road fly-over : The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the results of permitting two-way traffic on BC Road fly-over, a decision taken him by along with SP during a recent visit. He saw to it that the stones kept in place of dividers which were vacated from the fly-over were removed from the place.
On this occasion, Circle Inspector Belliappa and Town Police Station inspector Nandakumar drew the attention of the DC towards the inconveniences as well as traffic snarls due to the two-way traffic on the flyover.
It has been learnt that the DC who did not agree with this view directed that the two-way traffic rule be continued.
