DC examines traffic woes of Vittal; assures early solution

Vittal: Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim has said that the district administration is committed to solve all traffic problems of Vittal.He also informed that the officials concerned have been directed to take suitable measures and submit an action taken report. Public co-operation is essential in every respect, he said.

The DC was speaking after hearing public woes at a special public contact meeting held at the Model School at Vittal on Sunday July 6 after  inspecting  various parts of the town to have a  firsthand account of the traffic problems and the road widening problems.

The DC said sincere efforts would be made to help vacate the court stay with regard to the widening of the Nalku Marga in Vittal. He said additional responsibility in this regard would be entrusted to Assistant Commissioner Dr Prashanth.

 The GP Chief Bhavani Rai drew the attention of the Deputy Commissioner towards the special traffic arrangements envisaged by the Panchayat in order to find a solution to the traffic problem.

The DC said a meeting of the Gram Panchayat and  Police Department  will be convened in another week and he along with the SP will take part.

When journalist Udayshanker Neerpaje drew the attention of the DC towards the lack of co-ordination between the PWD and MESCOM over road widening  works, the DC  directed that steps need to be taken to  shift all electric poles to facilitate road widening within the next ten days.

Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty also drew the attention of the DC towards various civic woes.

The DC inspected the roads near Vittal school, the non-shifted electric poles as well as the  traffic arrangements near the private bus stand. On seeing a vehicle parked in a  no-parking zone, the DC took the Vittal inspector to task and asked him to initiate  strict action against flouting of parking rules.
