Moodbidri: Mysore division Dasara Sports festival at Vidyagiri was inaugurated by Muncipal president Supriya D Shetty here on September 17. It was organised by the Youth empowerment and Sports department of Udupi district and Alvas educational institution for two days.

After inaugurating the event she said that sportsmen should bring name and fame for the country. Dr M Mohan Alva is promoting sports in Moodbidri so everyone should make use of it.

Roshan Kumar,  assistant director of Youth empowerment and Sports department Udupi, Dakshina Kannada Youth empowerment and Sports department assistant director Panduranga Gouda, Alvas director Dr M Mohan Alva were present.

Physical education director Praveen Kumar compered the programme.

The first day of the event, saw Ball Badminton, Handball and Throwball competitions being held. 600 sportsmen from 8 districts of Mysore participated in the event.
