Dakshina Kannada reports four more COVID-19 positive cases

Mangaluru: Four fresh coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases were reported in the Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday, March 24.

All of the four, who tested positive for COVID-19, are from Kerala. With these four cases, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the district has increased to five.

Among the four cases, three were co-passengers of the Bhatkal native who was the first in the district to test positive for COVID-19. Three of the four persons are in the isolation ward of the Wenlock Hospital and one person is receiving treatment at KMC.

The details of the four new cases are as follows:

Patient 02 is a 32-year-old resident of Kerala’s Kasargod district. He arrived from Dubai in a SpiceJet flight on March 20 at 5.30 PM. He was screened at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) and categorised (Category A) as symptomatic. He has been admitted to the isolation ward for observation and treatment at the Wenlock Hospital.

Patient 03 is a 47-year-old resident of Kerala’s Kasargod district and arrived in a Air India Express flight (IX 814) from Dubai on March 19 at 5 AM. He was screened at MIA and put under Category A as symptomatic. He has been admitted for isolation and treatment at the Wenlock Hospital.

Patient 04 is also a 23-year-old resident of the Kasargod district of Kerala. He arrived from Dubai in a SpiceJet flight at 5.30 PM on March 20. He was screened at MIA and placed under Category A as symptomatic. He is receiving treatment at the Wenlock Hospital in the isolation ward.

Patient 05 is a 70-year-old woman who arrived in Calicut from Saudi Arabia on March 9. She was admitted to KMC hospital in Mangaluru on March 20 and is in the isolation ward.

Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, in a press release, informed that the five COVID-19 cases, all had came from abroad in a SpiceJet (SG 60) flight on March 20 and an Air India Express (IX 814) flight on March 19. Those who travelled in these two planes are urged to undergo home quarantine for 14 days and not to leave their homes at any cost. “If anyone has symptoms of COVID-19, they should consult the taluk health officer or consult the toll free number 1077. Ambulance services will be provided to move them to a hospital,” she said.
