Mangaluru: A businessman has installed a fridge which can store leftover food for the hungry, poor and needy. This is the first of its kind in the coastal city of Mangaluru.
Arafath Ameen, the owner of a cyber cafe near KMC Hospital, Balmatta has kept a fridge near the cafe with leftover food that could help the needy. It is said that he drew inspiration from children who visited his cyber and began the service on December 2.
Arafath stores fruits, juice, water and food for the needy. The food is stored in a hygienic way and is monitored through CCTV cameras.
However, Arafath pays for the food from his own pocket now. He has plans of starting such service at three other cyber cafes at Attavar, Hampankatta and Bendoorwell if his initiative succeeds. He also plans to have a double-door fridge to store vegetarian and non-vegetarian food separately.
