Mangalore : CWC Chairperson Asha Nayak has said that the CWC has settled 1,121 cases out of the total around 1138 cases before it during her tenure of three years and nine months.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday July 9 on the occasion of her tenure in CWC coming to an end, Asha Nayak said she was grateful to all those who extended their co-operation to the Committee.
Nayak further said of the total cases before the Committee, 17 are under investigation and are before various courts. She also stated that a sum of Rs 7.15 lakh has been spent towards the education of 125 beneficiary students.
The CWC has also handled over 50 cases of sexual assaults on minors and have dealt the cases under Prevention of Child Sexual Offences Act. It has also rehabilitated and counselled the victim children. She also informed that 37 children have been given in adoption to government recognised institutions.
Efforts are also made to enlighten the public on the ill-effects of child labour, prevention of atrocities on children and on child rights, Asha Nayak informed. She said CWC has been assisted by the Wenlock Government Hospital, Yenepoya Medical College, NITK-Suratkal, Balasanjeevini, Police Department and Department of Women and Child Welfare. She also thanked the media for its co-operation.
