Mangaluru: Customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport seized Foreign Currency on Sunday June 21st, from a passenger hailing from Kasaragod, bound for Dubai from Mangaluru International Airport.
The accussed passenger has been identified as Abdul Kader Perumbala hailing from Perumbala, Kasaragod, Kerala. He was apprehended before his departure from Mangaluru International Airport on the evening of 21.06.2015 by Air India Express flight No.IX 813 to Dubai.
According to a press release, he had no valid documents for possessing this foreign currency, that included 18250 Saudi Arabian Riyals, 1075 UAE Dirhams, 860 Kuwait Dinars, 3650 Qatar Riyals, 735 Omani Riyal, 55 Bahrain Dinars and 500 U.S. Dollars in various denominations, equivalent to Rs.7,54,411/- (Rupees Seven Lakhs Fifty Four Thousand Four Hundred Eleven only). The passenger tried to conceal the currency in his check-in baggage.
