
Mangaluru: Customs officers at the Mangaluru International Airport have reportedly seized gold weighing a total of 1.575 kgs worth Rs 63.73 lakhs in recent cases of illegal movement of gold.
It can be recalled that on Monday, January 6, a passenger, who landed in MIA in an Air India Dubai flight, was caught possessing 336.7 grams of gold which is estimated to be worth Rs 13.43 lakhs. Officials said that the gold was hidden inside the passengers’ socks.
On Tuesday, January 7, gold paste worth Rs 21.24 lakhs and gold weighing 716 grams costing Rs 29.06 lakhs were seized from two passengers.
