Mangaluru: The CPM office in Thokottu was torched by the miscreants merely two days ahead of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s visit to Mangaluru. The incident came to light on Thursday morning.Vijayan, who is also a member of CPM is due to visit Mangaluru on February 25 to take part in a communal harmony rally. However, the right wing outfits have taken exception to Vijayan’s visit citing that the CM has failed to tackle political killings in his own state and hence is unfit to take part in a harmony rally in Mangaluru. In this backdrop, the right wing outfits like the VHP and Bajrang Dal have called for a district-wide bundh on Saturday.

With the CPM office being set ablaze, the suspicion pin points at possibility of right wing members having executed the same. The cup board with publicity materials for the Feb 25 event were burnt.

Ullal police have visited the spot.
