CPI(M) stages protest opposing ‘anti-people’ budget

Mangalore: The CPI(M) staged a protest in Mangalore on July 13, Saturday, opposing  the ‘anti-people’ budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The protestors alleged that the budgetary proposals would lead to a sharp rise in the prices of various essential commodities. The budget has failed to give priority to social security and creation of more job opportunities, they said adding they strongly condemned such  budget which lacked far sightedness.

Several party leaders who took part in the protest said  the hike in excise and sales tax as well as tax on electricity  would have a direct impact on the prices of various products.
