Mangaluru: The members of Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Wednesday sought to know on why the police have not arrested Mangalore-based advocate A.C Jayaraj who is accused of prematurely withdrawing fixed deposits of several accident victims with the support of false court orders.

Addressing the protestors here in front of DC’s office, Vasanth Acharya, activist said, “The court has issued a warrant to arrest the accused advocate A.C Jayaraj. Its six months now. But, the police are not seriously acting on the court’s order”, he alleged.

The accused has been charged with drawing the insurance amount deposited in Dena Bank after forging the signature as well as seals of Sessions Court Judges Prakash and Arun Chowdhapura. It’s an insult to the sanctity of the judiciary. He is openly roaming in the city, but the police have not arrested him”, he lambasted.

Vasanth Acharya said that the accused advocate is influential and member of congress. Besides, he is the brother A.C Vinayraj, who is the councilor. Hence, the police are under pressure to arrest him, he said. The people have utmost trust on the judiciary. Before the public looses faith, the police must arrest without any mercy”, he added.

Sunil Kumar Bajal, CPI (M) activist said the congress has no shame to keep him in the party despite the charges of forgery on him. He should be immedeitley relived from the position of president of legal advisory board of Dakshina Kannada congress”, he said.
