Mangaluru: With one woman from Kasaba village in Bantwal taluk dying of COVID-19, district administration has decided to sealdown pockets of Bantwal on Sunday, April 19.
As per the instruction of district administration, Bantwal town police has been announcing in jeep about the move of sealdown from lower Town of Bantwal to Jakribettu and asking people to remain in their houses.
According to the sources, the deceased woman’s son came from Dubai on March 16 and allegedly violated quarantine.
As the cause of death is confirmed to be COVID-19 now, victim woman’s husband, son and mother-in-law also have been kept under quarantine.
Among them, the condition of mother-in-law is said to be critical and she is now receiving treatment in the ICU, sources said.
The lady was admitted to the hospital on Saturday as she had difficulty breathing. Her throat swabs were sent for tests, but before the reports could be out, she died on Sunday afternoon. The reports that arrived on Sunday evening confirmed that she was positive for COVID-19.
This is the first death of Dakshina Kannada district due to COVID-19.
