
Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, on Wednesday, March 11, appealed to the people arriving from foreign countries to contact the helpline if they have a fever, cough, cold or difficulty in breathing. She also assured them that their information will be kept confidential.
In a press release, the DC informed the people arriving from foreign countries to contact the numbers 104 or 1077, or the nearest health centre if they have a fever, cough, cold or difficulty in breathing. Meanwhile, she clarified that no one in the district has been found with the symptoms of the COVID- 19 infections so far. On Tuesday, as many as 512 persons who arrived at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) and New Mangaluru Port were screened for the novel coronavirus and none of them displayed any symptoms of the viral infection.
From February 1 onwards, a total of 25,351 passengers have been screened at the airport while another 5,358 passengers have been screened at the port. So far, no COVID-19 positive cases have been found in the Dakshina Kannada district.
Regarding the man displaying symptoms of the virus, who ran from the Wenlock Hospital, District Health Officer Dr Sikandar Pasha told newskarnataka.com that he is now receiving treatment at a health centre in Bantwal and that the results of his COVID-19 and H1N1 tests are yet to come.
