Mangaluru: As many as 355 test reports of throat swabs sent from the Dakshina Kannada district came back negative for COVID-19 on Saturday, May 2.
DK district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, in a press release, informed that the district has received the reports of 355 throat swabs which were sent for COVID-19, all of which came back negative today.
She added that 89 throat swabs were sent for testing today and the reports of 396 samples are awaited.
So far, the district has sent a total of 2994 throat swabs for testing, of which 24 results came back positive and the remaining 2970 tested negative. Of the 24 positive cases, three persons succumbed to disease and 12 were discharged after making a full recovery. A total of nine persons are still receiving treatment at the Wenlock hospital.
Meanwhile, the “Smart Planet” apartment located in the Permannur village under the Ullal police station limits, has been declassified as a containment zone as no new COVID-19 cases have been reported from the area for the past 28 days. Besides that, all primary and secondary contacts of the patient who recovered from the disease has completed his quarantine term. Therefore, this area has been declassified as a containment zone by the Deputy Commissioner.
