Puttur: The 5th additional sessions court judge pronounced death sentence to accused Jayesh Kant alias Shahir alias Shakir for killing his first cousin’s wife Soumya and her male child Jishnu on August 2, 2008.
The judge Ramachandra announced the judgment on August 12 in the court, the second death sentence in the recent past in Puttur. The accused had killed both at Siribagilu Pollyuttu in Shiradi limits and the court had declared the accused as guilty on August 9, 2016.

The accused killed Soumya first by strangling and stabbing her with knife. He had then snatched her gold chain weighing 10 grams and earrings. After few minutes he killed Soumya’s 3-year-old child Jishnu in brutal manner and fled to Kerala. The accused was eventually nabbed in 2012. In the terrifying incident both mother and her little son died on August 2, 2008 within few minutes.
