
Kasargod: The District Additional and Sessions Court on July 4, convicted a woman to life imprisonment for brutally murdering her husband’s second wife in Kasargod in 2011.
The accused Misriya (27), a resident of Goa, had killed her husband Abdul Rehman’s second wife Nafisath Misriya (21) by immolating her.
It may be recalled that Misriya, who is the first wife of Abdul Rehman, had poured petrol on Abdul Rehman and Nafisath and set them ablaze. Both Abdul Rehman and Nafisath were critically injured in the attack. They were admitted to a hospital but Nafisath failed to respond to the treatment and died in the hospital. Rehman recovered after spending a few months in the hospital. Abdul Rehman and Misriya have two children. Later he had married Nafisath from Uppala.
Kumbla Police Inspector Preman had arrested the accused and submitted chargesheet in the court. The court, today, convicted Misriya with life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50000 on her. Failed to the pay the fine will extend the jail term by three more years.
