Couple stabbed in Bantwal

Bantwal : A couple was inflicted with stab injuries by two unidentified assailants who made way into their house in the early hours of August 17, Saturday.

The horrific incident took place at around 2 am. The assailants fled after attacking the couple, but have not laid their hands on any valuable in the house.

The police are yet to ascertain the motive of the assailants.The couple Shivappa Salian (60) and his wife Pushpavathi (55) have   been admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore.

The couple who had settled in Bantwal after returning from the Gulf some time back, had purchased a commercial complex and also used to provide vehicles on hire. They were also money lenders.

SP Abhishek Goel, ASP Shivakumar and other police officials have visited the spot. Finger print experts have also been deputed. Investigations are underway.
