Mangalore: The Pingara Rajyotsava Award was organized by the Pingara Weekly, which was held at Town Hall in Mangalore on Tuesday November 26.
Eric Correa, noted philanthropist received the Ninth annual Pingara Rajyotsava Award, conferred by Mangalore Bishop Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza.
As a part of the Sauharda Nagar project initiated by Eric Correa, he had constructed more than 90 houses for the poor and worked immensely for the welfare of the society.
In his address the Bishop applauded the efforts made by Correa and said, “To serve the poor in the society by building houses for them and thereby fulfilling one of their basic necessities. His works should serve as an inspiration to others.”
Raghuram Bhandary, Joint Secretary to the Government and Special Officer (Banking) State Finance Department, Gopal Bhandari, MLA, VP Lobo and Managing Director of T3 Urban Developers were the guest of honour for the occasion.
Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of the Sahitya Parishat, Srikar Prabhu, Fr William Menezes, Rohan Monteiro, Managing Director of Rohan Corporation, Dr BG Suvarna. Raymond D’Cunha., Editor of Pingara and others were present on the occasion.
