Mangaluru: Corona may have cause fear across the world, but here in Mangaluru, the fishermen are all smiles due to Corona.

There has been a considerable dip in the fish catch this season, however, of late, the Mangaluru fishermen have had a good catch of a variety of fish, which is called ‘Corona’.

Though the local fishermen do not know the exact name of the fish, it has always been called ‘Corona’.

The scientific name of the fish is ‘Melanotaenia Corona’ and this is one of the expensive and rare fish.

It is quite surprising that the fish has been caught at the time when the world is frightened by the word Corona.

One kg of this fish costs anywhere between Rs 1800 to Rs 2000.

Though there is hardly any demand for this fish in Mangaluru, it is sent to Gujarat and other states where it has huge demand.
