Kasargod: A police Sub-Inspector has been arrested on charges of helping a person in obtaining passport with fake documents.

The arrested is Sub-Inspector Madhusudhan attached to Thalassery police station. He was earlier been suspended owing to pending inquiry.

According to sources, when Madhusudhan was a head constable at Badiadka police station in 2001, he had allegedly helped a person named Lathif to obtain passport using fake documents. Lathif had used the ration card and school certificate belonging to a person named Moideen Kunhi, residing in Badiyadka to get the passport done and Madhusudhan did the verification work.

In 2013, Lathif’s wife was found dead in a well. Lathif, at that time, was employed in the Middle East. His foul play came to light when the police wanted to summon him for questioning. He was named the prime accused in the death case. When police probed further into the fake document case, Madusudhan’s truth was revealed.
