Mangaluru: Niveshana Rahithara Horata Samitha has called upon the siteless families to join the convention organised in favour of the homeless and the siteless to assert for their rights, at Don Bosco hall in the city on April 15.

However, the Congress has warned of filing complaint against the organizers with the Election Commission if any political leader shares the stage during the event.

Addressing a press meet at District Congress office, former Mayor Mahabala Marla said that Niveshana Rahithara Horata Samitha will be running into trouble if the event turns into a venue for political campaigning.

Suspecting that the event is more of a plot to show the Congress in bad light, Marla said that there are possibilities of the organisers misleading the gathering.

Vouching for the Congress, Marla said: “In Mangluru South, 930 flats have been allotted to homeless people and MLA JR Lobo has given proposal to construct flats for 3000 homeless people. Already revenue department has identified land at Kannagudde and Rajunagara to build flats.” he added that even Mangaluru North constituency is doing exceptionally well as far as construction of houses for homeless is concerned.

“As many as 1077 houses for the homeless are underway. The meeting or the convention is being held only to mislead people against the ruling Congress, ” he said.
