Mangalore : Vishwa Hindu Parishat leader Jagadish Shenava has alleged that the Congress leaders were trying to prove as innocent, a cattle killer named Kabeer who was killed in a shoot-out by ANF personnel at Shringeri.
He was addressing a huge protest organised in front of the DC office in the city on Tuesday April 29 by the VHP and Hindu Jagarana Vedike demanding withdrawal of murder case against ANF cop and to withdraw the compensation provided to Kabeer family.
Taking strong exception to the government decision to offer lakhs of rupees as compensation to the family of Kabeer at the behest of the local MLA, Shenava pointed out that the funds do not come from the CM’s pocket but was tax payers’ money. The announcement of compensation for Kabeer family without the completion of the probe was also not proper. The government should decide on compensation only after probe is complete,he said.
Shenava further said the murder case registered against the ANF cop who gunned down Kabeer has demoralised the ANF. He also alleged that there was a ploy to invoke Goonda Act on a few Hindu leader and activists in the district. In such an event, the government itself would be held responsible for any untoward incident, he warned.
Narayan Kamath, ex-serviceman said the ANF which operates in Naxal hit areas will naturally have doubts when someone in a vehicle flees on seeing them. It is not proper to give a communal colour to the incident, he said.
Bhajrangdal leader Sharan Pumpwell, Hindu Jagarana Vedike leader Satyajith Suratkal, Raviraj Kadaba and others were present.
