Mangaluru: District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai told the press here today that he had asked the senior police officials to bring the conspirators before the law.

Claiming that the provocative speeches in the district were the reason behind the repeated untoward incidents in the district like those of stabbing in Kalladaka, murder of Korapadi Gram Panchayat Vice President Jaleel, Ashraf Kalai, he said, “Already I have brought the situation to the notice of chief minister, DIG and Intelligence IG. Apart from arresting the murderers, I have also asked the police to book conspirators or abetters.”

“The accused in Kalladka stabbing incident is wanted in two other murder cases. Prime accused in the murder of Ashraf Kalai shared the chair with RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat in a press meet held in Mangaluru. Buvith Shetty is a murder accused in Harish Poojary case, Mithun Poojary is accused in two murder cases including Harish Poojary’s and Rathnkar Shetty is accused in the murder of Isbu. Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat was accused in murder of Ismail though he is acquitted in the case.”

He also said there were no charges of murders against him nor does he support the murderers.

Several untoward incidents are repeating to create communal discord in the district but people should maintain harmony and peace in the society without giving attention to rumours and understand the reality, Rai appealed. Those who destroy social harmony should be punished, he added.

Defending his stance on the video of his meeting with SP going viral, he said that a delegation had come to meet him with their problems. “When I called SP on this issue, he told me that he would be coming to IB in Bantwal. While discussing many issues with SP, I also told him that provocative speeches were the cause for violence in the society. I have done this to protect the harmony in the society”, Rai asserted.

“Despite receiving many threat calls including from the underworld, I am working for harmony in the society,” he said.

Citing that he had done several developmental works in Bantwal, he alleged that since Sangh Parivar could not tolerate this, it was resorting to provocative speeches to create communal discord and garner votes on those grounds.

MLA J R Lobo, Congress leader Ibrahim Kodijal and others were present.
