Bantwal : CPI(M) State Secretary Srirama Reddy has alleged that there was a conspiracy of destroying evidences between the  of deaths of witnesses in  the Sowjana rape and murder case.

He was addressing a protest meet held at BC Road on November 24, Sunday on the arrival of the jatha organised by the CPI(M) from  Belthangady and Sullia to Mangalore demanding CBI probe into all suspicious death cases in Dharmasthala and surrounding areas since 1985.

Continuing,  Reddy said the lone person arrested in the case Santosh Rao   was suffering from a peculiar mental disorder as per the medical certificate issued by the doctors and questioned if such a mentally ill man can commit any murder. He alleged that the CPI(M) comrades who have taken to the streets along with the parents of Sowjanya seeking justice are being blamed as atheists. “We are neither atheists nor believers and will also not remain quiet if  injustice is done in the name of God and religion. At the same time we will not try to target any religion or Kshetra,” he clarified and added there was no question of being bogged down by false allegations. Our fight will continue until justice is done, he asserted.

Party leaders Vasanth Achari, Sanjeeva Bangera, Sunil Kumar Bajal, Imtiyaz BK, Ramanna Vittla, B Narayana and others took part in the protest.
