Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Women’s Congress held a symbolic protest against the hike in fuel prices by pulling a bullock cart and holding cycle rally from Jyothi Circle to DC office on February 3.
MLA J R Lobo inaugurated the cycle rally.
Sandalwood artiste and KPCC secretary Bhavana, addressing the gathering, said that after the Narendra Modi-led BJP government came to power, it had failed to control the rising fuel price. Further, she said that even prices of daily commodities had witnessed a rise but the performance of the government seemed to be lagging. Levying of taxes has added to the burden of the people, she added.
Shalet Pinto, District Women’s Congress President said, “When UPA was in power, BJP used to protest against it but now the party remains a mute-spectator despite the hike in fuel.
