Mangaluru: The District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai countered the provocative statements given by BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel by stating his party would extinguish the fire in case BJP ignited it.

After submitting a petition in Konaje police station demanding action against Kateel, Mithun Rai said district Congress wanted to expose Nalin for issuing damaging statements.

Knowledgeable people in the district will not be misled by such provocative statements, he said and assured of Congress dousing the fire in case BJP ignited it.

It may be recalled that BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel had warned of setting the entire Dakshina Kannada district on fire in case the district police and the state government failed to nab the accused involved in the murder of BJP worker Karthik Raj during a procession and protest meet on New Year day, January 1.
