Mangaluru
: All India Congress Committee (AICC) President, Rahul Gandhi released the Congress party manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections in Karnataka, here in the city on Friday, April 27, at the TV Ramana Pai Hall.

Speaking on the occasion Rahul said, “I am very happy to come here today and release party manifesto for the Congress party and for Karnataka.”

“This manifesto has not been prepared in a closed room by three or four people but by taking into consideration the people’s expectations from the government by visiting every single district, block, community and region of state. This manifesto is the voice of the people of Karnataka.

The Prime Minister likes to tell people his ‘Mann ki Baat’, but our manifesto contains the Mann ki Baat of the people of Karnataka,” said the AICC president while assuring that the party’s is commited to fulfill the promises made in the manifesto, just like it has done in the past.”

Further he mentioned that he could proudly say that the Karnataka government had achieved about 95 per cent of the promises made to the people in the previous manifesto five years ago and stood upto the ideals of Basavana.

Taking a jibe at the BJP party he said that in all probability their manifesto will be designed three or four people and will contain a hidden agenda, but more importantly it will not be manifesto of the people of Karnataka, it will be manifesto of RSS and will be based on their perception of what is good for the state.

“Unlike our opponents, I am here to listen to the people and give them what is good for them. Our opponents do not respect culture of Karnataka or the ideals of Basvanna. They make go and garland the statue of Basvanna but they don’t follow his preaching. I am not here to make empty promises,” said Rahul hinting at the undelivered promises of the Prime Minister.

“The Prime Minister committed that everybody will get Rs 15 lakh in their accounts but not even a single rupee came. He guaranteed a corruption-free India but so many scams have happened under his rule, whether it is Rafael, or Amit Shah’s son.

“He also said that he would ensure that the farmers get the right price for their yield. Narendra Modi and the BJP don’t stand up to what they say,” Gandhi said.

Present on the occasion, Siddaramaiah said Karnataka is the top job creating state in India and it has received the maximum investments.

“We will continue in our efforts to build a ‘Nava Karnataka’,” he added.
