Mangaluru: Wakf and Minority welfare Minister Qamar Ul Islam said that in last three years the ruling Congress government has developed the minority community in true sense.
Addressing the reporters at Circuit house, Mangaluru on Friday, May 20, he said that, the Congress government has sanctioned Rs 2,528 crore in past three years for the welfare of minorities, whereas the BJP government had sanctioned only Rs 1,145 crore in five years of its tenure in the state.
He said that even the budgetary allocation by the Congress government for the cause of minority saw a hike.
“The Congress had made 10 poll promises to the minorities, out of which eight have been fulfilled.This year a sum of Rs 125 crore is reserved for the development of Christian community,” he said.
Commenting on Anwar Manippady report about the encroachment of Wakf property he said that, it is not a complete report, it is an interim report and that the names of whom have been mentioned in the report had completed their tenure when the report was presented.
He said that at present the survey of Wakf property is on and it may take six months to be completed.
