Mangalore: Congress leader Ivan Dsouza the newly elected MLC received a warm welcome here at Mangalore Airport by congress activists and supporters.

Speaking on the occasion he said I am happy to be a member of Congress party which always works for the betterment of poor and downtrodden.

We did not expect defeat of Janardhana Poojary. BJP and Modi after coming to power hiked all the prices and made the lives of poor a hell, he said.

As soon as Ivan stepped out of the airport, party workers garlanded him and took a victory procession.

Congress leader V S Ugrappa, former party MP Iqbal Ahmed Saradagi, Davangere district Congress president Abdul Jabbar and Actress Jayamala were nominated to the Legislative Council. 

All the nominated members barring Jayamala were sworn in on June 25.

In the press meet DK Congress pro- president Ibrahim Kodijal, Ex-Mayor Hilda Alwa, Sevadal leader Ashraf, Corporator Vinay Raj and many others were present.
