
Bantwal: A private bus owner and Congress worker Norbert D’Souza (50) died of brain haemorrhage in a private hospital in Mangalore on Thursday, May 8.
He was a resident of Mandadi, Loretto Padavu of Bantwal taluk.
Norbert was admitted to Thumbe hospital on May 8 due to high blood pressure.
He was later shifted to Unity Hospital in Mangaluru for better treatment. However, he did not respond to the treatment and died in the hospital today evening at around 3.50 PM, said hospital sources.
Norbert owned five buses by the name Nithyadar. He was locally popular as ‘Bus Munna.‘
He is survived by wife Babitha and a son and a daughter. His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 11, said family sources.
Former Congress minister Ramanatha Rai, Bantwal Block Congress leader Baby Kunder, Zilla Panchayat member Padmashekhar Jain and others visited the hospital and paid their last respects to the deceased.
