Mangaluru: After uproars and conflicts within the Congress party over the matter of issuing ticket to the party candidate for the upcoming MLC polls, General Secretary and spokesperson of District Congress Harikrishna Bantwal filed his nominations as Independent Candidate here at DC office on Wednesday, December 9. He was accompanied by large number of party workers.

Speaking to reporters after filling nominations Harikrishna Bantwal said that he was contesting as a Congress party workers’ candidate.

“The Congress party belongs to its workers. It is not owned by Oscar Fernandes. Pratapchandra Shetty is the choice of the Congress leader while I am the choice of the party workers. Now, there is no question of backing out,” he said adding that they had given ample time for the party to re-think and decide, but the party failed to respect the demand of the party workers.
“I have faith in my supporters, because I am a loyal, non-corrupt Congressman. I want to be the voice of the voiceless,” he said adding that if chosen as MLC he will strive to stop the Yettinahole project.
