Mangaluru: “The single point agenda of the Narendra Modi government is provoking the people to indulge in communal violence and derive political mileage from it”, alleged Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Dinesh Gundu Rao on Tuesday, April 2.
Addressing the reporters at the district Congress office, Gundu Rao slammed both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP’s National President Amit Shah claiming that both were dividing the people on the lines of caste and religion. “Narendra Modi has used the word ‘Hindu terror’ while delivering a speech at election campaign in New Delhi, which itself is an example of provoking people. As he has not fulfilled any of the promises he had made during the previous election, he is now trying to gain the votes by inciting communal feelings”, he said.
Gundu Rao also alleged that Modi had lied about his educational qualification and also his marital status. “Modi is a liar and he is dealing with mafia. Though he is claiming to be the ‘chowkidar of the country’, he is just a watchman for corporate companies and business tycoons”, he added.
Gundu Rao said that the blessing of former union minister B Janardhana Poojary on Congress candidate Mithun Rai will act as a big boon for the success of the party. “As Nalin Kumar Kateel was not able to fetch any major projects for DK district, people want a change now and they would definitely bless Mithun Rai this time”, he opined.
‘We are disappointed over Rahul not contesting from Karnataka’
Meanwhile, Gundu Rao admitted that he has a little bit disappointed as the National President of Congress Rahul Gandhi is not contesting from any of the constituencies in Karnataka. “ I am the first person to invite Rahul Gandhi to contest from Karnataka. Later, Congress leaders from other states also began to invite Rahul Gandhi. Though Rahul Gandhi has now decided to contest from Wayanad in Kerala, we are proud that our prime ministerial candidate would contest and be elected from South India”, he said.
Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister U T Khader, district Congress President and MLC Hareesh Kumar, candidate Mithun Rai and other Congress leaders J R Lobo, A C Vinayraj, Santhosh Shetty, Kallige Tharanath Shetty, U K Monu, Vishnunath among others were present.
