Mangaluru: Alleging that the BJP has violated the Peoples Representative Act, 1951 by distributing handbills against the Congress party in the district, members of the party will be lodging a complaint with the deputy commissioner in this regard.

Addressing a press meet at the District Congress Committee (DCC) office, party spokesperson A C Vinayaraj alleged that the BJP party workers were distributing pamphlets against the Congress party and alleging that it is involved in anti-Hindu policies. The pamphlets distributed by them have no information regarding the printer and other basic details. This is in violation of the code of conduct of elections, he said.

“The Congress will file a complaint against the BJP with the deputy commissioner in this regard”, Vinayaraj said.

On RSS leader Prabhakar Bhat’s controversial remarks against State Minister U T Khader, Vinayaraj said, “The Congress has decided to file a complaint with the election commission and election officers against Bhat. There are several cases against Prabhakar Bhat for controversial remarks made by him. Presently, he is out on bail. If he continues with this attitude, the Congress will move the court requesting a withdrawal of his bail.”

He also challenged the BJP government at the centre to bring a single policy under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act, 1964 in the entire country.

He also said that the Modi-led BJP government had failed to fulfill the assurances given to the people.
