Kasargod: The coastal police busted a major illegal sand mining racket on Saturday and seized as many as 10 boats.

It is said that the mining was being undertaken in the nights and the boats were being hidden in mangroves early morning.

Acting on inputs from Superintendent of Police A Srinivas, the officials led by Kasaragod DySP MV Sukumaran launched an operation and seized the boats.

Police have informed that more such operations will be conducted in the near future.
