Mangaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa just arrived at the Mangaluru International Airport via a special flight today, to review the law and order situation in the city. He will be holding a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and senior police officials of the city.
After his meeting with the officials, the CM will leave for Manipal, where the Pejawar seer is being treated in a private hospital. The seer was admitted to the hospital after he complained of respiratory issues.
Meanwhile, BSY was informed about the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner’s notice to former chief minister Siddaramaiah, barring him from entering the city. CM Yediyurappa said that when in Mangaluru, he will speak to the compol and state home minister Basavaraj Bommai and find out why such an order was issued to the former chief minister. Siddaramaiah is also the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly.
It can be recalled that the anti-CAA protests in Mangaluru city turned violent and two protesters were killed in the police firing. A curfew was placed on the city after the incident and lathi-charge was used to discourage people from venturing out.
A tense situation now prevails over the city. Earlier, the curfew was relaxed between 6 AM and 8 AM in order to allow the people to purchase groceries.
